Trey Songz declines plea deal

Trey Songz declines plea deal in an alleged assault on a Detroit police Sergent during a court hearing Friday (March 3).

The R&B artist appeared before the judge via a video connection from Los Angeles for his arraignment.

Trey Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, did not accept the offer; however, it remains open. The offer would reduce a felony count to a misdemeanor count and requires Trey to be on probation for two years as part of a sentence agreement.

Neverson, 32, was charged with assaulting an officer, after a performance at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, in December. He was angry because his microphone was cut off after he went over his allotted show time.

Mr. Steal Your Girl flipped out and started throwing objects from the stage, including a microphone, which struck a cameraman on the head. He’s also accused of striking a police sergeant in the head, which gave the officer a concussion.

According to officials, Trey is currently faces a felony count of assaulting a police officer causing injury, which is punishable by up to four years in prison, and a misdemeanor count of aggravated assault, which carries of a maximum penalty of one year in jail,

At this point it looks as if the case is heading to trial.
