Reakwon
presents:Icewater
Polluted Water

AKA MJ

We all have to admit Staten Island has
been M.I.A. from the rap game for a minute
now; especially with ODB’s passing and
Meth’s and RZA focusing on movies/soundtracks
and the rest of the Wu Tang clan falling
into obscurity. Raekwon and Ghostface
have been the only viable force repping
the Shaolin Island.
However, with this new album Reakwon presents:Icewater:
Polluted Water the island of Staten may
be once again known for hard rhymes, amazing
flow, and real life stories.
Raekwon, the always on point MC basically
acts as the spring board for the three-man
crew that he says is the future of Hip-Hop,
which consists of Stomach, P.C. (Paulie
Caskets), D.C. (Donnie Cash), & Polite.
The album has 17 songs in total and no
corny interludes but disappointingly only
features Reakwon on 7 songs. But there’s
a lineup of top notch MC’s making guest
appearances including, Busta Rhymes, Rick
Ross, and Remy Ma just to name a few.
Method Man is the only Wu member making
a cameo appearance on the album but disappointingly
no where to be found is Rae’s right hand
man Ghost Face.
The album from the start is high energy,
“Animal” is the first track and it is
filled with braggadocios loud rhymes and
beats that are the norm sprinkled throughout
the album. The album glides through tracks
like ice skates on a dry road. In a sense
although the songs transition well I believe
the line up could have had a more fluid
flow. Like the first track should have
been introduced instead of just starting
up. The second track on the album really
catches your attention, it’s a hot song
which happens to feature Busta and Rae,
and it will definitely be a fan favorite.
As the tracks go up in number you realize
filler tracks were included like the song
“Let’s Get It” and “Murda.” Stand out
tracks include, “Mercy Me” a nice concise
song with hot flows that even your girl
will like. “Tell Me How You Like It” is
another nice song that features Remy Ma,
the beat is crazy and the flow and calbo
are on point. The best song on the album
that really shines is “Hip-Hop Tribute,”
a lyrical gem that showcases the quartets
MC skills as a whole.
Over all, I think you will definitely
get enjoyment and some musical candy for
your ears. Raekwon has chosen some unique
MC’s to take stock in and if this album
is any indication of their skills then
as wine gets better with time then these
MC’s will definitely be the ones to watch
for in the future. In all the album is
hot most of the songs are laced with the
same content that most MC’s rap about
such as, hoes, money, beef, drugs, murder,
and jewels.
