Army of the Pharaohs debut album, “The Torture
Papers” is hands down the best crew album
I have heard in a very long time. With 12
members that can all actually rap, I have
to say this album is sick and not because
the beats and the production are off the
chain, but because the words that these
MC’s posses and flow with are like intricate
details that your grandma would sew into
one of those old fashion pillows.
Finally, a Hip-Hop album that speaks
about different subjects not just rapping
over a girl or what car to take out. This
album you can put in your CD player or
Computer and vibe to. I really enjoyed
almost every track and I feel the whole
group really shines as a unit. Although
the whole team doesn’t have one song together,
the songs overall that were chosen for
this 13 track CD were expertly made.
Tracks that will make you go out and
buy the album are, “Battle Cry” a great
opener to the album, with most of the
crew on the track, you can really get
different views on what everyone has to
offer. “Henry The 8th” is a hot song,
with a medieval theme that will make you
think. And continuing the making you think
aspect, my favorite track, "In the
Arms of Angels” gives you a different
perspective into each MC’s trials and
tribulations. “Feast of Wolves, another
real song that continues the theme of
the album. With so many good songs, I
would have to say the title track; “Torture
Papers” is the weakest.
With so many dope MC’s on the album,
it’s hard to pin point who shines and
who doesn’t, because the production and
sound is so on point. Crew albums can
be hard, and although many members in
the group have solo ventures, it is refreshing
to hear a well thought out and produced
body of work, that will continue to prevail
long after fads die. |
