FABOLOUS
From Nothin' to Somethin'
Review by: Marlow "Low"
Scruggs

The Brooklyn-born John Jackson, aka Fabolous
is back with the release of his long-awaited
fourth album and possible street classic
"From Nothin' to Somethin'."
Believe me when I say, "This album
is full of hits." Stand out tracks
include the lead single "Diamonds"
featuring Young Jeezy, the smoothed-out
"Make Me Better" featuring Ne-Yo
and the street anthem "Brooklyn"
featuring Jay-Z and Uncle Murda. But the
hot banga "Change Up" featuring
singer, producer Akon happens to be that
track that'll have you wearing out your
rewind buttons. Fabolous' flow compliments
the bass heavy, piano and horn driven
track while Akon does his thing in the
singing department.
This album has an abundance of features,
as a matter of fact there are only two
tracks that don’t have a feature and one
of those is the intro. Fabolous along
with the powers that be have actually
committed feature over-kill on this project.
Feature artists include: Akon, Ne-Yo,
T-Pain, Swizz Beatz, Junior Reid, Lloyd,
Rihanna, Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Uncle Murder,
Red Café, Lil’ Mo, and a few others but
I’m sure you get the point.
Overall the album's temperature reading
is at 104 degrees. However, I would've
liked to have heard an album with Fabolous
doing more of a solo thing. But in the
"must go platinum" era in which
the music industry currently resides,
who does that?
