Even though I’ve tried hard to deny it,
I can’t ignore the flavor of
Hip-Hop that’s coming from Louisiana.
So my theory is that there must be something
in the water down there because D-Boyz
which consist of members Stone and Lac
are bringing the heat with their new album
“Life of a D-Boy” which features not just
19 songs but 19 quality songs. No mixtape
ready music here, just dope songs with
ill hooks and lyrics. All the songs have
been thought out thoroughly and masterfully
arraigned with tuff wordplay.
For those unfamiliar with the D-Boyz,
they are affiliated with Cash Money Records
and were even signed to the label at one
point. So it’s no wonder that they have
absorbed a lot of musical knowledge because
the album is testament to that training.
The album starts off with a smooth song
appropriately titled “Life of a D-Boy.”
I would have preferred an intro however
the song is hot and was a nice introduction.
My favorite tracks include “Streets Keep
Calling Me” featuring Kango, the song
has a great Latin flavor, Kango adds to
that flavor and the rhymes are tight too.
More points for Stone & Lac. “Wipe
‘Em Off” featuring Mannie Fresh, “I Wonder,”
and “Work to Move” featuring Jazze Pha,
are also dope, so I really can’t pick
one song that I didn’t like. The album
also features Juvenile, TQ, and BG among
others, so it’s nice that the crew came
through to show support. The immaculately
produced album is straight up fiiiiire.
I have to give credit where its do and
its definitely due here.
From start to finish its non-stop music
that you actually can listen to
without skipping, plus you can either
chill in the house or in the car and you
still feel the cool vibes. However, I
don’t know if I am being duped by the
tracks being so on point or the quality,
anyhow this album is a must listen.
