| A more mature Busta Rhymes has risen after
lying dormant for almost 4 years, our man
Busta is finally ready to give us “The Big
Bang” an album that has awoken a spirit
that some have said may have gone away after
the release of “Pass The Courvoisier.” With
seven albums now under his belt, this one
is not only different but shows a side to
Busta that we have never heard. With Production
by the Best Producers in the game and Dr.
Dre getting Executive Producer credit along
with Busta, you will definitely get a “Big
Bang” for your buck.
With enough guest appearances and the
hottest beats to boot, that right there
is enough to make any artist sound better,
so get ready to be in tuned for the duration
of the 15 track disc. Stand out tracks
include "Been through the Storm",
featuring Mr. Stevie Wonder, giving us
an insight to Busta’s childhood and memories
of his parents, and "In The Ghetto"
which samples the late great Rick James,
and although Rick wrote his version in
1981, Busta definitely added some 06’
flava. “How We Do It Over Here" featuring
Missy Elliott is a great calabo although
Missy tends to overshadow Busta a bit.
But the best song on the entire album
has to go to; "You Can't Hold the
Torch," although it’s another track
that features guest appearances, (a consistent
theme) Busta, Q-Tip and Chauncey Black,
conjure up memories of Hip-Hop back in
the day, when A Tribe Called Quest was
what Hip-Hop sounded like.
Another two genuine cuts include "Goldmine"
featuring Reakwon and “Don't Get Carried
Away” featuring Nas, two very different
tracks that really gives you different
elements of what Hip-Hop can sound like.
With many radio friendly joints like the
infectious “That’s My Chic (Bitch)” featuring
Kelis and WILL.I.AM and of course the
original version of “Touch It,” and Another
NY anthem to add to the collection “NY
Shit” among others, this album is sure
to have you in varies moods, which is
in turn is a good thing.
Although the album is special, there
are a few disappointments. Like, why isn’t
the “Touch It” remix’s a bonus on the
album? And shouldn’t the album really
be called “The Busta Duets” instead of
“The Big Bang.” Anyway overall I recommend
you buy, or at least bootleg it, whatever
you do to obtain it, this album will not
disappoint and have you entertained from
beginning to end. |
