POP
N BULLETZ
N-V-US ENTERTAINMENT
The Queen City has finally found its
King in Tavarus Logee, CEO of N-V-US Entertainment
(which stands for Never Violate Us) located
in Charlotte, North Carolina. Formed two
year ago, by Logee (otherwise known as
Lowe), the label (distributed by Wea/Warner
Brothers) is currently enjoying the benefits
of hard-work with its hit single Whip
It! (Real Hard) by the hot new Hip Hop
duo Pop-N-Bulletz featuring Def Jam Recording
artist Rick Ross.
Pop-N-Bulletz comprised of East Coast/Brooklyn
native Pop a.k.a. Pop Gages (Tyran Hicks)
and West Coast/Los Angeles native Bulletz
(Terell Fischer) are making hip hop history
as the first East Coast/West Coast duo
to collaborate. The charismatic two-some
are also making their mark on the rap
charts as their single continues to garner
major radio spins. Says Lowe “The two
compliment each other. Pop is reserved
and intellectual while Bulletz is energetic
and charismatic. What they have in common
is a passion to be the best, which make
them the perfect first release on N-V-US,
because we are the best!”
Lowe originally from Nevada was born into
music. His father was one of the top steel
drum players in the world. In high school
he took to production and in college majored
in business management. It was in early
2000 that he delved into the management
role to assist his younger brother with
getting a record deal. It was in 2004
that he finally decided to form his own
entertainment company.
In an effort to set a better standard
for independent labels, Lowe decided on
the unconventional. The office and state-of-art
private studio (located in East Charlotte),
also has a house built next for the recording
artists to reside. Says Lowe laughingly
“a regular day usually starts off with
people waking up in the studio. But seriously,
we all get together to discuss goals.
Every day someone records, producers work
on beats and we come up with promotional
materials. We also have a duplication
center where we burn about 10,000 cd’s
a day. This works because I’ve given my
artists a place to stay as well as a 24/7
outlet to be creative. I’ve also surrounded
myself with the best people in the industry.
I like to think of them as my dream team.”
Veteran label executive Kevin Evans has
taken on the consultant role for N-V-US.
Notable acts that have benefited from
Evan’s successful direction are Tyrese,
SWV and Barry White.
When asked what makes N-V-US different
than the other independents, Lowe replies
“Everyone has a something at stake. We’re
all very hand’s on and intensely loyal
to the label and to the product.” Current
acts signed to the label at Stix (The
talk of the town), female rapper Moe.
Diamondz and Young Papah (a.k.a. Papha
Boi and Little Homie). Also in the works
is the N-V-US Production and Management
Company, a promotion tour which will be
sponsored by Ozone Magazine and a documentary
about the day-to-day operations of the
label which will be showcased on the website.
Say’s Lowe about the documentary “This
will show the street, what we’re all about
and, of course will make the other indies
… N-V-US!”
