LA Police Caught on Video Killing Homeless Black Man
LA Police caught on video killing homeless black man Sunday [March 1] in downtown Los Angeles during a fight and struggle.
According to the Los Angeles police commander Andrew Smith, the man “began fighting and physically resisting the officers.” He said that at one point police tried to restrain him by using a Taser, which he claims was “ineffective.”
A bystander on the street captured the footage on his cell phone, which has now gone viral on the internet. The video footage shows the man fighting with at least four police officers. The officers take the man down and while he’s on the ground an officer can be heard saying, “He’s going for the gun.” The video doesn’t show the man going for the cop’s gun but that’s what the officer repeated several times prior to the volley of shots that were fired.
Immediately after the shooting witnesses can be heard shouting profanities toward the officers and towards a black officer in particular. The witnesses called him a “coward” and a “sellout” for killing another black man.
The victim was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene and at this time his name has not been released.
