Are Black People Too Forgiving Of Their Racist Attackers?
That’s correct, the question is… Are black people too forgiving of their racist attackers?
Rakeem Jones, the victim of a sucker-punch from an elderly Trump supporter shook hands and forgave his attacker yesterday. #SMH “What’s wrong with that?” you may ask. I don’t believe most of these racist individuals deserve forgiveness. I guess it all depends on the circumstances. Black people have been excessively forgiving racist people who abuse or hurt them throughout history. Has it suppressed racist behavior?
But I digress, do you all remember John Franklin McGraw? He’s the 79-year old racist Trump supporter who punched Rakeem Jones in the face at a Trump rally in Fayetteville, NC earlier this year. The incident was recorded and the video went viral.
Watch McGraw punch Jones & listen to what he said afterwards:
In court on Wednesday McGraw pleaded no contest to assault and disorderly conduct charges and received a suspended sentence and one year unsupervised probation.
According to WRAL News, McGraw apologized then stated the following:
“You know what you did, and I know what I did. I’m not going to say you were wrong or I’m wrong. I hate it worse than anything in the world. If I met you in the street and the same thing occurred, I would have said, ‘Go on home. One of us will get hurt.’ That’s what I would have said. But we are caught up in a political mess today, and you and me, we got to heal our country.”
So, that’s what he said after his apology. It sounds like bullshit to me. Did you catch what he actually said? “If I met you in the street and the same thing occurred, I would have said, ‘Go on home.” He told that man that if he met him on the street and punched him again he would tell him to go home. You have to read between the lines, people!
People in the courtroom applauded as the two men shook hands.
“I just felt good being able to shake his hand and being able to, you know, being able to actually face him,” Jones was quoted saying after the court hearing.
And that’s the problem I have with a lot of black people. There are racist assholes who would rather see “the blacks” strung up hanging from a tree; however, there are black people who have forgiving hearts towards them too.
Had another black man punched this brother in the face he would most likely not be willing to shake hands and keep it moving. There are young black men on the streets today who will kill each other over petty incidents such as accidentally stepping on the other’s Jordan’s.
Just look how Jones is shaking McGraw’s hand & also embracing his arm. That racist redneck is not reciprocating the embracement because he’s only fronting and shaking Jones’ hand as a diplomatic appearance for the judge. Once he left that court room he was most likely still talking that racist shit. He probably called that brother all types of niggers while pulling off in his pick-up truck. What do you think?
